What is a PSR?

What are PSRs responsible for?
The Patient Service Representative is responsible for the smooth administrative entry and exit of the patient and ensuring that Westside has all of the necessary information for follow-up contact. They create a welcoming atmosphere by greeting patients and visitors to our health centers by practicing patience and understanding towards everyone.
What role do PSRs play in the registration of patients?
Checks in patients (in person or via Curbside Check-In) in a timely and friendly manner. Verify and update patient demographic and payer information in the electronic medical record system. Expedites patient processing by having them fill out forms or assisting them when needed.
Are PSRs able to schedule patients?
PSRs can assist patients with scheduling follow-up appointments or help move existing appointments within the schedule as needed.
Do PSRs support other departments within Westside Health?
PSRs work with the billing department by updating/entering and verifying patients’ insurance benefits. Also, collect and properly post all fees, payments, and co-payments from patients and reconcile daily charges. They also work with Enrollment services by assisting our uninsured patients in completing a Sliding Fee Scale application, and Title X scales, and/or directing them to an Enrollment Specialist when necessary.
Do PSRs work pools in the EMR?
The PSRs do work the pools for there site that they are assigned. There is a wide range of requests from other departments, their assigned site, providers, and patients via the patient portal.
