      • Ensure all supplies required are available and in procedure room.

      MA will get supplies. Provider will then prep sterile field, unless MA is trained to do so.

      Procedure (Provider)

      Before

      • After reviewing procedure with patient, have patient sign consent form.

      • Using sterile technique, place appropriate items on sterile field.

      • Confirm allergies.

      • Perform time out immediately before procedure.

      After

      • Remove all sharps from work stand and place in sharps container. 

        • Do not delegate this task.

      Dressing (MA or Provider)

      • Dress wound.

      • Give patient after-care instructions.

      Post-procedure (MA)

      • When procedure is complete, prepare specimen for lab and send.
